Paranormal Activity 2
Yes.
Following a predictable or previously used formula is usually the death knell for a film, but in the case of Paranormal Activity 2, it is executed so well and with such commitment that it is a definite success.
The Town
No.
While ‘The Town’ is an enjoyable thriller that I know a lot of people will like, it will play just as well on Blu-ray (and to that end I don’t even anticipate any repeat viewings), so I cannot give it an overall, ‘everyone needs to see it in theaters’ type of recommendation.

The mediocrity is palpable in this mundane spy story that barely kept my attention as a trailer, never mind a feature length film.
Green Zone
Yes.
Director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon are at it again; this time with an Iraq war thriller that includes both exciting action and a message (though I do wish that message was delivered in a more subtle fashion).
Shutter Island
Yes.
The basis for the storyline may be well-worn territory, but Scorsese does a nice job keeping it fresh with some truly arresting visuals and solid performances all around.
Edge Of Darkness
No.
Mel Gibson hams it up with a disgraceful Boston accent in this instantly forgettable revenge thriller.
